“The Legend of Panama Hattie”

“Legend has it that many years ago, on the harsh, steamy coastline of Central America, a beautiful, mysterious woman hosted a ‘Hacienda’. Guests of this Hacienda came from near and far, lulled by the smell of fish on an open fire mixed with the ever-present mist of the rainforest, and the cries, like sirens, of exotic songbirds as they raced past the gently crashing seashore. Her greeting? A wry, seductive smile where she held their hearts greatest desires. She led them across a creaky floorboard to a cozy, candlelit table. Was it the cool evening breeze, or the soothing libations that eased their crusted palettes? Their anxieties were soon forgotten as she hospitably revealed their feast before them! Laughter exploded from their bellies, like pirates over untold riches! ‘What army is going to eat all this?!’, they exclaimed! Crabs! Lobster! Fish! Shellfish! All steaming, sweet, fresh and in mammoth portions! They had no sooner loosened their belts than the music tickled their ears. Turning and squinting, they gazed upon her silhouette gliding and turning to the rhythm of the local ‘Mariachis’. Their hearts raced as she summoned them to join her in the pale moonlight. And they all danced and sang and laughed until their sounds began to fade… into the sound of the gently crashing seashore through the mists of the rainforest…”
